Why ‘Mane & Ink Creative’
When making the move to work for myself, I knew I wanted a name that represented me, and it had to be something tangible.
I have been told that I’m lucky enough to be blessed with thick and healthy-looking hair, pair that with the untamable waves, and it feels fitting to feature it- this is where the “Mane” element comes into play. The idea of featuring something that belongs to me and won’t change, even as I continue to grow and develop, felt like the right type of branding for myself, especially when working in a tight-knit community of Hastings Creatives.
The other ‘tangible’ element is in the name “ink’. The above design is just one of my many tattoos; it is also the core design of my logo.
This was designed with careful consideration, as I wanted to have something that represented a special place and a shared love with my late father, which is the island of Crete. The centre depicts the Minion maze, a symbol of Crete and the legends that surround the Minotaur. I want to say a special thank you to my clever friend Milly, for helping put my rambling thought process into potential designs for the logo from my tattoos.
On my mother’s side, I was raised within a family that valued creativity. Since I was little, I have been involved in many creative pursuits; from being in an art club, a love for acting and dancing, costumes, props, and scenery for school plays, working in carnival arts, as well as running the society whilst at university, to volunteering with carnivals in the South West.
In recent years, I would jump at the opportunity to do anything remotely creative within a work setting, from window displays, photography, and filming to menu, brochure, poster designs, and creating events.
